Walk With Phoenix exists to honour Phoenix’s life and to ensure that no other family experiences the same preventable loss.

This campaign is about turning heartbreak into action and raising awareness.

pushing for safety improvements on the Tay Bridge, and creating a space where Phoenix’s story can inspire change

Phoenix Birkett was a much-loved son, a loyal friend, and a young man who asked for help in the final moments of his life. He changed his mind, but the Tay Bridge gave him no second chance.

This campaign exists because no family should lose a child to a preventable gap in public safety.

The Tay Bridge has known risks. There have been warnings, reports, and previous incidents. The safety measures in place are not enough to protect vulnerable people in crisis.

We are calling for a full safety review of the Tay Bridge, including higher barriers, crisis signage, and emergency intervention points. Measures already proven to save lives on similar structures across the UK.

This is not about blame. It is about responsibility. It is about learning from tragedy instead of repeating it.

Phoenix’s legacy must bring change. Change that protects others, supports families, and ensures that no cry for help goes unheard.

Walk With Phoenix is our commitment to turning heartbreak into action, and action into safety for everyone who crosses the Tay Bridge.
